New IGP pledges security and safety for all Nigerians

The new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Abba, has taken over the leadership of the Nigeria Police force, with a pledge to provide safety and security for all Nigerians.

Mr Abba promised that the police would ensure the protection and respect for human rights while promoting community partnerships to prevent social disorder.

Less than 24 hours, the former Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, handed over to his successor, Abba.

Mr Abubakar thanked all Nigerians for the opportunity to serve and expressed satisfaction with the support that he had received while he was in the office, giving the assurance that he is leaving the police in capable hands.
