Joan rivers snubbed by Oscars!
Ah well.. I don't really know much about the Oscars red carpet etc but there has been a lot of buzz about joan rivers not mentioned in memory of the departed segment.
Marie Claire puts it in clear terms:
What the hell? The iconic comedian, who died last year, was a fixture on the red carpet, interviewing celebrities and skewering their style at the same time. But when it came time to mourn Hollywood's royalty, the Academy didn't think to include her.
Rivers wasn't primarily known for her work in movies, though she did direct Billy Crystal in his first starring role. However, she was known for redefining the Oscars telecast as we know it with her hilarious red-carpet fashion recaps. But she was left out of their "in memoriam" segment, which paid tribute to actors like Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney. Rivers was also snubbed during the Grammys' annual "in memoriam" segment, even though she won a posthumous award that very day.
Ah well what can I say. I know what she will say tho... Fuck those people!.
