Ambassador did not contact ebola victim

Lagos - The Lagos State Government has refuted reports in the local media suggesting Ambassador to Liberia, Chigozie Obi-Nnadozie, had contact with the Liberian who recently died of Ebola.
The victim died in Lagos last Friday after flying into the country from Monrovia.
Although the state government had earlier mentioned the ambassador as one of the persons who had contact with the victim, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Hakeem Bello, said the state had since learnt that the official who travelled to Nigeria with the victim and who was mistaken for Her Excellency the Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia was a representative of the Economic Community of West African States President.
"We hereby tender our unreserved apologies to Her Excellency for the inconveniences this may have caused her both as an individual and a very high official and Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria," he said.
Bello however noted that an official of the Federal Government who was at the briefing on Monday and provided the information at the Lagos Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, made the error.
